Lamitan City, Basilan | June 30, 2025 — The 4th Special Forces “Dolphin Warriors” Battalion (4SFBn) was honored in an emotional send-off ceremony held at the Port of Lamitan City, marking the end of their over 15-year deployment in the Province of Basilan.

The ceremony was led by Brigadier General Alvin V. Luzon, Commander of the 101st Infantry “Three Red Arrows” Brigade, who paid tribute to the battalion’s outstanding contributions to the province’s transformation from a conflict-ridden area to one of peace and progress.

“The dedication, professionalism, and true service of the 4SFBn have played a pivotal role in creating a more peaceful and secure Basilan,” said BGen. Luzon. “Your unwavering commitment will not be forgotten. You are a part of Basilan’s history.”

Representing the Commanding Officer of the 4SFBn, LTC Adolf Ian M. Garceron, was MAJ Jundy Adrian Paul O. Peralta, who received commendations and messages of appreciation on behalf of the unit. The leadership of LTC Garceron and the collective efforts of the Dolphin Warriors were warmly acknowledged by military officials, local leaders, and civil society partners.

Among those who joined the event were Dr. Arlyn Jawad Jumao-as, President of Save the Children of War Mindanao Inc., alongside members of JCI Lamitan and FCI Lamitan, and fellow battalion commanders based in Basilan—LTC Mark Serapion Lagud Jr. of the 18IB, LTC Edmund Lanzar of the 32IB, and LTC Franco Baylon of the 45IB.

The ceremony featured musical and cultural performances as a gesture of tribute to the departing troops. In one of the most touching moments, children under Dr. Jawad’s care personally handed out flowers and handwritten notes to the soldiers—messages of gratitude that moved many to tears.

“The connection between the people and the soldiers has grown deep,” said Dr. Jawad. “Their presence has given our communities hope and security.”

Throughout their deployment, the 4SFBn not only ensured peace and order but also launched numerous humanitarian programs, built partnerships with local institutions, and engaged closely with communities to support lasting peace.

In a heartfelt farewell message, the 4SFBn expressed gratitude to the people of Basilan:

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the people of Basilan for your warm welcome and unwavering support. Your kindness, cooperation, and trust have truly inspired us to perform our duties with dedication, integrity, and compassion.”

“As we move forward to new assignments, we carry with us not only valuable experiences but also the hope that the positive changes and enduring peace we have helped build will continue to thrive in this land we have proudly served and grown to love.”

The battalion’s departure marks a new chapter both for the unit and for Basilan. The legacy of the Dolphin Warriors, forged through years of service and sacrifice, will remain etched in the hearts of the people they protected.

“The strength of a unit is not measured by where it serves, but by the legacy it leaves behind. Basilan, you have made us stronger.”
