TUDELA, Misamis Occidental — A 19-year-old male criminology student was arrested during a successful drug buy-bust operation conducted by law enforcement authorities on Monday afternoon, July 28, in Barangay Locsoon, Tudela.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Gary,” is a second-year student and resident of Purok 1, Barangay Locsoon. He was apprehended at around 1:55 PM in Purok 2 of the same barangay during an operation spearheaded by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), under the leadership of PCPT Roland Y. Cagas, assistant chief of PDEU, and acting on the directive of PCPT Jonathan Apale Fernandez. The operation was conducted in coordination with the Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Tudela Municipal Police Station.

Authorities confiscated the following from the suspect:

  • One (1) small rectangular heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu (buy-bust item)
  • Nine (9) more sachets of suspected shabu (for possession)
  • One genuine Php 500 bill used as buy-bust money
  • One plastic container where the illegal drugs were hidden

The seized drugs weighed a total of four (4) grams and were estimated to have a street value of Php 27,200.

The suspect is now in police custody and is facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the source of the illegal drugs and possible involvement of other individuals.
