Responding swiftly, a team led by PCPT Gian Carlo E. Demetion, Officer-in-Charge of Taraka MPS, proceeded to the suspect’s residence in Barangay Sundig. Upon their arrival, the suspect attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. A body search yielded a purse containing several sachets of white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, weighing approximately 3 grams and valued at ₱20,400.
The suspect was read his constitutional rights in a language he understood. The seized evidence was inventoried and marked in the presence of the Barangay Chairman, who served as the insulating witness. While the Department of Justice (DOJ) was notified, no representative was able to attend.
Meanwhile, in Poonabayabao, another suspect was arrested after a concerned citizen turned him over to the local police around 10:30 AM for allegedly committing robbery. The complainant reported returning home to find the main door forcibly opened and a bag containing assorted clothing and ₱2,000 in cash missing. A witness identified the suspect and the direction he fled.
The suspect was apprehended while still carrying the stolen bag. During a routine body search by Poonabayabao MPS personnel, two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu were also recovered, weighing around 0.192 grams with an estimated market value of ₱1,305.
The suspect was immediately arrested and informed of his rights. An inventory of the evidence was conducted in the presence of a Barangay Kagawad of Brgy. Pantao. DOJ and media representatives were not available during the process.
Provincial Director Cabuhat commended both the Taraka and Poonabayabao MPS units for their swift and professional response, emphasizing the vital role of community cooperation in maintaining peace and a drug-free environment.
