Isabela City, June 7, 2025 — A wooden boat was damaged and washed ashore along Block 4 in Barangay Baluno after being hit by strong waves caused by the southwest monsoon (Habagat) and a Low Pressure Area (LPA) affecting the region.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Team immediately deployed their sea craft upon receiving a report from a local resident about a capsized boat in the area.

The team coordinated with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the barangay captain of Baluno. Upon verification, it was confirmed that the passengers had already been rescued by the PCG before the WASAR team arrived.

Several grocery items and personal belongings were found floating and scattered near the site. These were turned over to the barangay office for proper handling and documentation.

Authorities are reminding the public to remain alert during adverse weather conditions, avoid sea travel when the weather is unfavorable, and promptly report any incidents to local authorities.
