Tamparan, Lanao del Sur – A 42-year-old male suspect was arrested on the evening of May 5, 2025, by operatives of the Tamparan Municipal Police Station (MPS) for violations of multiple laws, including the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591), the COMELEC Gun Ban, and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165).
The arrest occurred around 8:40 PM in Barangay Raya, Tamparan, during a routine mobile patrol operation. Police personnel noticed a blue Toyota Innova (plate number GAH 3103) parked along the roadside with its engine running, obstructing the patrol vehicle’s path.
Upon approaching the vehicle, one officer saw the driver — later identified as a resident of Barangay Taporog, Poona Bayabao — deliberately throw a caliber .45 pistol from the driver’s seat. When asked to present documentation for the firearm, the suspect failed to produce any license or permit.
A subsequent search and arrest led to the confiscation of the following items:
- One (1) Norinco 1911A Caliber .45 pistol (Serial No. 884296)
- One (1) magazine with eight live ammunition
- Five (5) transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu (approximately 1.0 gram, with an estimated street value of Php 6,800.00) concealed in a cigarette pack
- One (1) improvised tooter
- Two (2) disposable lighters
- One (1) Toyota Innova vehicle
The arresting officers immediately apprised the suspect of his constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine, delivered in a dialect he fully understood. The inventory of confiscated items was conducted at the scene in the presence of required witnesses to ensure compliance with legal procedures.
The suspect and all seized items are now under the custody of the Tamparan MPS for proper documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.
The Provincial Director lauded the vigilance and swift response of the police personnel, emphasizing the critical role of proactive patrol operations in preventing crimes, especially during the election period when the COMELEC Gun Ban is strictly enforced.
