Davao City, May 21, 2025 — The Davao City Cooperative Development Office (DCCDO) is ramping up its support for cooperatives through a series of mandatory and specialized training programs, aimed at helping them maintain their operating status and comply with the requirements set by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).
Cooperative Development Specialist I Shaira Alamin, in an interview with Madayaw on Tuesday, May 20, emphasized the importance of technical assistance in enabling cooperatives to secure their Certificate of Compliance (COC). The COC is a crucial requirement not only for continued operation but also for availing of tax exemptions.
“Our office offers CDA-mandated trainings like the Fundamentals of Cooperatives Course and the Governance and Management of Cooperatives Course,” Alamin said. “These trainings are offered for free. The DCCDO will provide the speakers, while the cooperatives take care of the venue and other logistical needs.”
She noted that the current training priority is on Micro and Small Cooperatives, which often need more support in meeting CDA standards.
Beyond the mandatory sessions, the DCCDO also delivers a wide range of specialized trainings that are not required by the CDA but are designed to strengthen cooperative management and leadership. These include:
- Leadership and Values Re-Orientation Course
- Parliamentary Procedure Course
- Conflict Management Course
- Basic Accounting for Non-Accountants
- Strategic Planning Course
- Entrepreneurial and Business Management Course
- Records Management Course
- Internal Control Course
- Rules and Regulations Formulation Course
- Audit Management Course
- Policy Development Course
- Effective Monitoring and Evaluation Course
- Risk Management Course
- Gender and Sensitivity Training
“These trainings are crafted to equip our cooperatives with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate effectively and sustainably,” Alamin added.
For inquiries and training bookings, cooperatives are encouraged to contact their respective district offices. Dabawenyos may also reach the DCCDO through telephone number 225-0393.
The DCCDO is currently holding office at the Magnegosyo Ta Day (MTD) Building, located at Brgy. 76-A, Phase 1, Sandawa, behind the SIR Sandawa Barangay Hall.
