Lanao del Sur—Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong spearheaded a crucial meeting on April 1, 2025, to discuss the establishment of the Ranaw Halal Committee and the enhancement of Islamic Finance in the province. The meeting was attended by Executive Director of Raheema Peace Weavers Bai a Labi Sittie Aisah “Baicon” Cayongcat – Nuska, Jamel Cayamodin, and Dean Sahraman D. Hadji Latif.

One of the key points of discussion was the formulation of a local ordinance to support the halal industry, an initiative seen as a strategic move to boost the local economy. The proposed policy is expected to streamline the growth of halal enterprises in the province, creating more opportunities for the residents and strengthening economic resilience.

The expansion of Islamic Finance was another focal point of the meeting. This economic system operates in accordance with Islamic principles, prohibiting riba (interest), gharar (uncertainty), and haram (forbidden) transactions. The initiative aims to provide fair and ethical financial services that cater to the needs of entrepreneurs and citizens while aligning with their religious beliefs.

Vice Governor Adiong emphasized that these efforts mark a significant step toward building an inclusive and sustainable economic framework for the Ranaw community. The establishment of the Ranaw Halal Committee and the promotion of Islamic Finance are seen as pivotal measures to empower local businesses and enhance economic opportunities in Lanao del Sur.
