Maguindanao del Sur — In a firm show of commitment to the fight against illegal drugs, two separate police operations on April 13, 2025, led to the arrest of suspected drug peddlers and the seizure of illegal substances in the towns of Rajah Buayan and Datu Abdullah Sangki.
At around 7:50 PM, a routine checkpoint conducted by the Rajah Buayan Municipal Police Station in Barangay Sapakan flagged down a blue Suzuki Raider 150 motorcycle after its driver displayed suspicious behavior and resisted a standard inspection. A subsequent search led to the discovery of one (1) small heat-sealed plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu,” weighing approximately 0.06 grams with an estimated street value of Php 408.00. Police also recovered three (3) lighters, one (1) roll of electrical tape, and one (1) motorcycle step foot accessory.
The confiscated items were properly documented, photographed, and inventoried in the presence of barangay officials and a media representative. The evidence will be submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit for examination, while the suspect remains in the custody of Rajah Buayan MPS, facing charges under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Earlier that day, at around 5:30 PM, another successful anti-drug operation unfolded in Sitio Manilong, Barangay Banaba, Datu Abdullah Sangki. The Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit of Datu Abdullah Sangki MPS, in coordination with the Provincial Intelligence Unit of Maguindanao del Sur PPO and PDEA-BARMM, conducted a buy-bust operation that led to the arrest of a suspect known as alias “Noel.”
Seized during the operation were approximately 0.1516 grams of suspected “shabu” valued at Php 1,030.00 and one (1) genuine Php 500.00 bill used as marked buy-bust money. The suspect was apprehended after undercover operatives, posing as buyers, successfully transacted with him. He is now under police custody pending the filing of formal charges, while the seized illegal drugs have also been submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit BAR for laboratory analysis.
Acting Provincial Director PCOL Ryan Bobby C. Paloma commended the successful efforts of both municipal police stations, emphasizing the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office’s intensified drive to curb illegal drug activities and urging all chiefs of police to step up intelligence collection and target other personalities involved in the illegal drug trade.
“These consecutive operations demonstrate our unwavering commitment to protect our communities from the dangers of illegal drugs. We will continue to intensify our efforts until the streets are free from these harmful substances,” Paloma stated.
