Davao Oriental, Philippines — The beauty of Davao Oriental has long been undeniable. Today, the province’s tourism industry is enjoying a strong resurgence, thanks to the enduring vision of the late Governor Cora Malanyaon and the dynamic leadership of current Governor Niño Uy.

Following years of closure and rehabilitation, several of the province’s eco-tourism destinations have officially reopened, drawing both local and international attention. Among the highlights are:

  • 📍Mount Hamiguitan Eco Park
  • 📍Mandaya Heritage Museum and Pusan Point in Caraga
  • 📍Aliwagwag Falls Eco-Park in Cateel

These reopenings have reinvigorated the private sector and created new opportunities for local businesses and employment, significantly contributing to the overall growth and development of the province.

In less than two years under Governor Uy’s leadership, Davao Oriental has already achieved notable milestones:

  • ✅ 1.2 million combined overnight and same-day tourists in 2024
  • ✅ 833,379 tourist arrivals from July to December 2023
  • ✅ ₱6.1 million in earnings from provincial eco-parks and museums
  • ✅ ₱7.2 million in total tourism revenue for 2024

A historic cultural achievement also marked this new era: the successful launch of the first-ever Kabilin Festival. This celebration is a powerful symbol of the province’s commitment to preserving and promoting its rich cultural heritage. The festival not only reinforces Davao Oriental’s identity but also unites its people in honoring their roots—ensuring that these traditions are passed down to future generations.

As Davao Oriental continues to rise as a leading destination in Mindanao, its strengthened focus on eco-tourism and cultural preservation signals a brighter, more sustainable future for the province and its people.
