Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi – A successful seaborne patrol operation was conducted by operatives from the Sitangkai Maritime Law Enforcement Team (MLET), Tawi-Tawi Maritime Police Station (MARSPTA), and Regional Maritime Unit BAR, in coordination with the Bureau of Customs, on March 8, 2025, in the waters off Tugala, Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi.



During the operation, authorities intercepted an unmarked motorized boat with defaced serial numbers, valued at approximately PhP200,000.00. Additionally, they recovered 2,000 liters of suspected smuggled fuel, estimated to be worth PhP130,000.00.
Two individuals were arrested for violating Republic Act 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. The suspects and the seized evidence are currently under the custody of Sitangkai MLET for proper documentation and disposition.
This operation is part of the PNP Maritime Group’s intensified campaign against smuggling and other illegal maritime activities to ensure security and order in the region.
