Muntinlupa City, Philippines – In a compassionate initiative spearheaded by Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong, Jr. and Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur successfully carried out a Ramadhan/Iftar Drive at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) on March 21, 2025.
The event provided much-needed support to 200 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and Muslim personnel within the NBP, distributing Iftar food packs along with 40 sacks of rice and 20 boxes of dates. This outreach was aimed at ensuring that Muslim individuals in detention could properly observe the holy month of Ramadhan with dignity and nourishment.
Governor Adiong and Vice Governor Raki-in Adiong highlighted that the initiative reflects the Provincial Government’s ongoing commitment to serving its people, particularly the Muslim community, by extending essential services even beyond their jurisdiction. They reiterated their dedication to supporting the needs of their constituents, especially during sacred occasions such as Ramadhan.
The officials also extended their gratitude to General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., AFP (Ret), CESE, CCLH, Director General of the Bureau of Corrections, for his invaluable support in facilitating the event. His cooperation played a crucial role in the successful execution of the Iftar Drive.
This humanitarian effort underscores the significance of unity and service during Ramadhan, reinforcing the importance of compassion and inclusivity within the broader Filipino society.
