Koronadal City—In a significant move to boost local agricultural productivity, the city government of Koronadal distributed 3,000 sacks of rice seeds to 1,000 rice farmers. This initiative was carried out under the Department of Agriculture’s Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Program (RCEP) in partnership with the City Agriculture Office.
The distribution aims to enhance rice production and ensure food security by providing high-quality seeds to farmers. Many beneficiaries expressed joy and gratitude as they received their seed allocations, which were determined based on the size of their farmland, according to City Agriculturist Engr. Reynold Biñas.
Beyond seed distribution, the city government is committed to providing continuous support to the agricultural sector. City Mayor Atty. Eliordo U. Ogena announced that the local government will procure two powered tractors and an additional rice planter. These modern farming tools will be made accessible to farmers to help reduce costs in land preparation and improve farming efficiency.
This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to empowering farmers, enhancing their productivity, and ensuring sustainable agricultural growth in Koronadal. By providing essential resources and modern equipment, the city is taking a proactive step toward strengthening the livelihoods of its farming community.
