Agusan del Norte police operatives successfully arrested three of the region’s most wanted individuals in separate operations conducted on March 5 and 6, 2025, in the municipalities of Santiago and Las Nieves.
In Las Nieves, joint police operatives from the Las Nieves Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Team-ADN, and Regional Intelligence Unit 13 apprehended two high-profile fugitives on March 6. The first suspect, identified as alias “Josias,” a 70-year-old male resident of Purok 4, Barangay E.G. Montilla, was arrested based on a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 1, Butuan City, dated February 24, 2025. He faces two counts of statutory rape under Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Republic Act 7610, docketed as Criminal Case Numbers 2025-0030 and 2025-0031, with no bail recommended.
On the same day, authorities also arrested alias “Vergel,” a 22-year-old male resident of Purok 5, Barangay Bonifacio, Las Nieves. His arrest was based on a Warrant of Arrest issued by the same court on February 20, 2025, for statutory rape under Criminal Case Numbers 2024-1333 and 2024-1334, also with no bail recommended.
Meanwhile, on March 5, 2025, police operatives from the Santiago Municipal Police Station captured the province’s second most wanted person in Purok 7, Barangay Poblacion 1, Santiago. The suspect, identified as alias “Kit-kit,” an 18-year-old male resident of the area, was arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 34, Cabadbaran City. He faces charges for Force Upon Things in an Inhabited Place under Article 299 of the Revised Penal Code, docketed as Criminal Case Number CR-2024-172. The suspect is currently under police custody while arrangements are being made for his turnover to Bahay Pag-asa, Tubay, Agusan del Norte.
PCOL April Mark C. Young, Provincial Director of the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office, commended the efforts of the operatives in successfully capturing these fugitives.
“I commend the concerted efforts of our police units for these notable accomplishments. Your relentless dedication, unwavering commitment, and exceptional teamwork have resulted in the successful arrest of Caraga’s most wanted persons,” PCOL Young stated.
He also reiterated the police force’s commitment to pursuing justice and ensuring the safety of the public. “There is no greater priority for the Agusan del Norte PNP than arresting suspects who have been evading capture. With our vigorous campaign against wanted persons, we are committed to leaving no refuge for them,” he added.
