The Provincial Engineer’s Office of Lanao del Sur is implementing the Expansion of a Water System in Marawi City, funded by the Office of the Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (OCM BARMM). The project is designed to serve barangays outside the Most Affected Areas (MAA), providing clean and sufficient water to 11,629 households.
This infrastructure initiative spans five key areas: MSU Zone 1, MSU Zone 2, MSU Zone 3, 12Ib to Pugaan, and Guimba. While the project is substantially completed, minor deficiency works remain in some MSU areas, along with other finishing tasks in the remaining zones.
Beyond providing water, the project symbolizes the restoration of hope and dignity for the residents of Marawi. Ensuring reliable access to water is a crucial step toward rebuilding communities and fostering economic and social development.
The Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur has overseen the implementation up to the Cluster Box level, while the Marawi City Water District is responsible for distributing water to individual households. Residents must apply for connection with the Marawi City Water District to access the water supply in their homes.
