Cantilan, Surigao del Sur – In a joint operation, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office XIII (PDEA RO XIII) and the Cantilan Municipal Police Station (MPS) successfully executed a search warrant against illegal drug activities on February 1, 2025. The operation underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in combating illegal drugs and ensuring public safety.
The search was conducted in Purok 1, Barangay Lininti-an, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur, leading to the confiscation of approximately eight (8) grams of shabu. Authorities estimate the street value of the seized drugs at Php54,400.00. Additionally, drug paraphernalia, including lighters, a mobile phone, and an improvised tooter with residue, were recovered from the scene.
Following the operation, charges were filed for violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The offenses include maintaining a drug den, visiting a drug den, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and drug use.
Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activities in their communities, emphasizing the collective responsibility in preventing the proliferation of illegal drugs. The PDEA and Cantilan MPS reaffirm their commitment to intensifying efforts against illegal drug operations, ensuring a safer environment for residents.
Further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the illegal drug network in the area, with law enforcement agencies remaining vigilant in their campaign against narcotics.
