Tawi-Tawi, Philippines – On February 17, 2025, the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), led by Engr. Nicandro P. Parayno, Officer-in-Charge Director of the Mapping and Geodesy Branch, paid a courtesy visit to the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Government at the Provincial Conference Hall, Capitol Building.

Representing Governor Yshmael “Mang” I. Sali, Provincial Tourism Officer Pershing Taiyab and Provincial Planning and Development Officer Noor Mohammad D. Saada warmly welcomed the NAMRIA delegation.

The discussions centered on NAMRIA’s planned activities in Tawi-Tawi, particularly the quality assessment of existing maps through extensive field validation. This initiative aims to generate high-quality, large-scale topographic base maps and enhanced cartographic products covering the entire province. These maps are essential tools for effective development planning and governance.

As part of the collaboration, the NAMRIA team also handed over digital map data to Mr. Saada, further strengthening the province’s planning and development initiatives. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to ensuring accurate and up-to-date mapping—critical for sustainable development and strategic decision-making in the region.

With precise and reliable geospatial data, the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Government can better implement infrastructure projects, disaster risk reduction programs, and environmental management efforts, ultimately benefiting local communities and fostering long-term progress.
