PIKIT, NORTH COTABATO – A man was arrested by members of the Pikit Municipal Police Station after being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm at a checkpoint along the National Highway in Barangay Inug-ug, Pikit, North Cotabato, around 10:00 PM.
The suspect was identified as Abdulwahab Sampinit Abdulrahman, a 34-year-old businessman and resident of Purok 7, Barangay Buliok, Special Geographic Area (SGA), Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
According to the Pikit police investigation, Abdulrahman failed to present the necessary documents for the firearm in his possession, leading to his immediate arrest. Authorities recovered a .45 caliber pistol with serial number 744421, Texas-made, along with ten rounds of ammunition.
Charges for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Comelec Resolution No. 11067 are set to be filed against the suspect, who remains in police custody pending proper legal disposition.
