SULTAN KUDARAT – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 12 has secured support from various civil society organizations (CSOs) to bolster environmental protection and conservation efforts in the province.
A consultation meeting, spearheaded by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Sultan Kudarat in collaboration with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENROs) of Kalamansig and Tacurong, was held on Friday (Feb. 21) in Kalamansig town. The discussion centered on the critical role of CSOs in shaping comprehensive budget proposals and promoting sustainable environmental management strategies.
Aligned with the guidelines set in National Budget Memorandum No. 153 of the Department of Budget and Management, the meeting aimed to formulate budget proposals for the fiscal year 2026 while enhancing stakeholders’ understanding of environmental law compliance.
Among the attendees were people’s organizations (POs) engaged in DENR-12’s National Greening Program and Community-Based Forest Management. Representatives from various government agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Provincial Planning Development Office, and Local Development Investment Promotion Office, also participated. Additionally, members of academia, local civic organizations such as the Kalimudan Eagles Club, and the religious sector contributed their insights and proposals for environmental enhancement, rehabilitation, and sustainability.
The consultation underscored significant commitments from key agencies. The Provincial Science and Technology Office pledged to support the improvement of POs in 2026, while the DTI committed to assisting stakeholders in marketing their products, thereby strengthening the socio-economic conditions of beneficiaries in the province.
Through collaborative efforts, the DENR-12 and CSOs aim to fortify environmental conservation initiatives, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for Sultan Kudarat.
