CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU10), PS2-Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), Regional Intelligence Division 10 (RID10), and Regional Intelligence Unit 10 (RIU10) led to the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of illegal drugs worth over PhP1 million. The operation took place on January 7, 2025, in Bolonsori, Barangay Camaman-an.

The suspects were identified by their aliases as “Maelyn,” a 38-year-old female who is jobless and listed as a Top 1 Priority Regional Target, and “Gener,” a 37-year-old male. Both are residents of Barangay Camaman-an. Authorities revealed that “Maelyn” has been previously arrested in 2017 and 2021 for violations of R.A. No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while “Gener” is a first-time offender.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The confiscated drugs weighed approximately 150 grams and had an estimated Standard Drug Price of PhP1,020,000. Additional evidence included a coin purse and a PhP1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.

The suspects and the confiscated items are now in the custody of PS2-COCPO for proper documentation and disposition. Authorities confirmed that a case for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of R.A. No. 9165, will be filed against the suspects.

PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), commended the operatives for their efforts in the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs. “PRO10 remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate illegal drugs in the region. With the collaboration of law enforcement agencies and the community, we will persevere until every drug offender is brought to justice. I call on everyone to continue supporting our efforts to achieve a safer, progressive, and drug-free Region 10,” he said.

Authorities reiterated their dedication to intensifying anti-drug operations and encouraged public cooperation in the fight against illegal drugs. This successful operation marks another step towards creating a safer community in Northern Mindanao.
