Davao City – A top city-level drug suspect was arrested early Monday morning, January 27, during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of the Sasa Police Station in Doña Pilar, Barangay Sasa.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Jay-Jay,” is a ceiling installer by trade. Authorities apprehended him at around 2 a.m. and confiscated suspected shabu worth an estimated PHP 3,417,816. The operation marks a significant success in the city’s ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.
According to initial reports, the suspect had been under surveillance for some time, as he was listed as the Top 1 drug personality in the city. The buy-bust operation was carried out with precision, ensuring the suspect was apprehended without incident.
Police revealed that the seized illegal drugs, believed to be shabu, were carefully packaged, indicating the suspect’s involvement in a well-organized drug network. Authorities are currently conducting further investigations to trace the source of the illegal drugs and identify other individuals who may be part of the syndicate.
“This operation is a clear message to those involved in illegal drug activities that Davao City will not tolerate such crimes. We remain steadfast in our efforts to ensure the safety and security of our communities,” a police official stated.
The suspect is now in police custody and will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Police have vowed to intensify their anti-drug operations in coordination with other law enforcement agencies to dismantle drug networks operating in the city.
Authorities are urging residents to report any suspicious activities in their communities as part of the city’s collective effort to combat illegal drugs.
