Davao de Oro, Philippines — In their continuing efforts to combat illegal logging activities, the Davao de Oro Police recently conducted successful operations resulting in the recovery of abandoned lumber in two separate locations within the province.
In Sitio Mahayag, Barangay Nuevo Iloco, Mawab, police recovered 30 pieces of miscellaneous lumber totaling 142 board feet. The estimated value of the lumber is Php 4,260.00. The pieces were found abandoned and are now in police custody as part of an ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation at Purok 5, Barangay Lumatab, Maco, authorities recovered approximately 500 board feet of Falcata logs. The recovered logs, valued at Php 1,500.00, were similarly found abandoned. They are also under the care of the Davao de Oro Police.
The recoveries form part of a broader initiative by local law enforcement to address illegal logging activities and preserve the region’s natural resources. The police have urged the public to report suspicious activities related to forest products and emphasized their commitment to protecting the environment.
Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for the abandoned lumber and logs. Authorities reaffirm their determination to curb illegal activities that threaten the environment and the livelihoods dependent on the province’s natural resources.
