In the ongoing fight against illegal drugs, authorities carried out a pre-dawn operation on Tuesday at Sitio Poblacion 2, Barangay Korosoyan, in the town of Barira, Maguindanao Del Norte. The operation was launched following intelligence reports of a drug use session in the area.
The operation, led by PCPT. Joel C. Albao, Chief of Police of Barira Municipal Police Station, and PLT. Cris P. Limotan of the 3rd Mobile Platoon, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, targeted two suspects identified as aliases “Lka,” 27, and “Ekel,” 33. Both are members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) and residents of the area.
The suspects managed to evade capture by jumping out of a window and fleeing into a dense forest upon sensing the approaching authorities.
Recovered during the operation were approximately 2.5 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP 15,000, drug paraphernalia, and lighters.
Authorities are currently pursuing the suspects to ensure they face justice.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is urging local officials and residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to aid in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs.
This operation underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the persistent issue of illegal drug use in communities.
