GENERAL SANTOS CITY – In a significant stride toward lasting peace, the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) Committee of South Cotabato, in collaboration with the Regional Police Office XII (PRO 12), successfully demilitarized 91 surrendered firearms during a ceremonial event held at the PRO 12 Covered Court, Camp Gen. Paulino T. Santos, Tambler, General Santos City.



The occasion drew key officials, including COL Ronel R. Manalo, Deputy Brigade Commander of the 1st Mechanized Infantry (Maasahan) Brigade; PBGEN Arnold P. Ardiente, Officer-in-Charge of PRO 12; Navy Captain Ferdinand Buscato, Acting Executive Director of Task Force Balik-Loob (TFBL); LTC Ewin E. Felongco, Commanding Officer of the 38th Infantry Battalion; Melroy Manait, LGOO IV, DILG Region Representative; Sonia L. Bautista, RSW, MPA, MTRM, PSWDO/E-CLIP Head Secretariat; Atty. Leah May L. Orencio, Provincial Legal Officer IV/E-CLIP Focal Person; and Delia Cinco, Project Development Officer IV of the Area Management Unit, South Central Mindanao, OPAPRU.
Navy Captain Buscato delivered a compelling address during the ceremony, emphasizing the significance of the demilitarization process. “The demilitarization of firearms is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to end the local communist armed conflict by destroying the very instruments used to propagate terrorism against our people,” he said. “This ceremony marks a momentous milestone in our collective journey toward internal peace and security, and I am truly honored to celebrate this achievement with all of you.”
Col. Manalo echoed this sentiment, highlighting the broader implications of the event. “The demilitarization of these firearms represents more than just the destruction of weapons; it’s a promise to future generations of a peaceful South Cotabato,” he explained. “This achievement was made possible through the dedication of the provincial government of South Cotabato, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the PNP, and our Peace Partners, who showcased the transformative power of the E-CLIP program.”
