Cagayan de Oro City — December 4, 2024

In a decisive operation, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU10), in coordination with other units, apprehended two individuals and seized approximately 120 grams of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation on December 3 along Coastal Road, San Juan 2, Barangay Lapasan, this city.

The suspects, identified by their aliases as “Sam-sam,” 32, and “Dong RM,” 34, are both residents of Barangay Gusa. Police records show they are repeat offenders previously arrested in 2016 for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Confiscated during the operation were 11 small heat-sealed sachets containing the suspected illegal substance, weighing about 120 grams and valued at an estimated ₱816,000. Also recovered were two black coin purses, a mobile phone, and a marked ₱1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.

The suspects are now detained at Police Station 3 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, where they await further legal proceedings.

PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), praised the operatives for their unwavering commitment to combating illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao.

“We remain steadfast in our mission to safeguard the people of Northern Mindanao from the dangers posed by illegal drugs. Let this be a stern warning to those involved in these illicit activities: the law will catch up with you,” he said.

PRO10 continues to urge the public to support the campaign against illegal drugs by providing timely information to authorities.

This successful operation underscores the police force’s dedication to eradicating drug-related crimes and ensuring public safety in the region.
