CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Police authorities confiscated methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, valued at PhP884,000.00 in two separate buy-bust operations in Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon on December 13 and 14, 2024.

Operation in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental

At about 8:35 PM on December 13, 2024, operatives from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU10), in coordination with RID10 and RIU10, arrested a suspect known by the alias “Parak.” The 49-year-old jeepney driver and resident of Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City, was apprehended during a buy-bust operation in Purok 1, Solana, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental.

Authorities seized the following items during the operation:

  • Four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 50 grams, valued at PhP340,000.00;
  • Thirty-seven empty transparent plastic sachets;
  • One large plastic cellophane used as a container; and
  • A PhP1,000.00 bill used as buy-bust money.

The suspect, previously apprehended multiple times for drug-related violations, is now in custody at the Jasaan Municipal Police Station (MPS).

Operation in Maramag, Bukidnon

The second operation occurred at 3:15 AM on December 14, 2024, in Purok 1, South Poblacion, Maramag, Bukidnon. Personnel from the Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit (MDEU) of Maramag MPS apprehended two suspects identified by their aliases “Juvan” and “Angel.” “Juvan,” a 32-year-old High-Value Individual, and “Angel,” a 28-year-old newly identified drug personality, are both residents of Maramag.

Recovered from the suspects were:

  • Five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 80 grams, valued at PhP544,000.00;
  • A brown sling bag and a green belt bag;
  • A weighing scale;
  • One mobile phone;
  • One motorcycle; and
  • A PhP1,000.00 bill used as buy-bust money.

“Juvan” has a record of three previous arrests for illegal drug violations, illegal possession of a firearm, and attempted homicide.

Legal Action and Police Statement

All arrested individuals are currently detained at the Jasaan MPS and Maramag MPS for proper disposition. Cases for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed against them.

PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10, lauded the operatives for their successful anti-drug operations.

“These operations underscore our steadfast resolve to eliminate illegal drugs in our region. We will continue to strengthen our efforts and also our partnerships with the community and other stakeholders to achieve a safer and drug-free Northern Mindanao,” De Guzman stated.
