A passenger was tragically killed during a brazen hold-up inside a bus in Carmen, Davao del Norte, on the afternoon of December 28, 2024. The suspects, identified as two armed men, fled the scene and reportedly robbed another victim on a motorcycle shortly after the incident.

“This is my first time experiencing something like this! Thank God we’re safe,” shared one of the surviving passengers, who expressed relief despite the terrifying ordeal.
The Metro Shuttle Bus Company has already turned over CCTV footage to the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office, providing critical evidence that could help identify the suspects. According to Vice Governor De Carlo Oyo Uy, the footage has enabled authorities to pinpoint the identities of the perpetrators. “Through the CCTV footage provided by the police, the suspects have been identified, and manhunt operations are ongoing,” Uy confirmed.
Initial investigations revealed that the bus was heading toward Davao City when the armed suspects announced the hold-up. During the robbery, a 54-year-old passenger who resisted the suspects was fatally shot. After fleeing the bus, the suspects commandeered a motorcycle and used it as a getaway vehicle.
Police are now intensifying their manhunt operations, with checkpoints and coordinated efforts across the province to apprehend the suspects.
Eyewitness Gleiza Delgado, who survived the attack, took to social media to recount her experience. Her post read, “A passenger was killed by two armed men during a hold-up inside a bus here in Carmen, DDN. Afterward, the suspects fled and robbed someone on a motorcycle. First time I’ve experienced this! Thank God we’re safe.”
A video released by Police Regional Office XI, captured by the bus’s CCTV system, showed clear images of the suspects during the crime. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
Vice Governor Uy expressed his dismay over the incident, lamenting the loss of innocent life. “This robbery and senseless killing have no place in our community. We will ensure justice is served,” Uy stated.
Police investigations remain ongoing, and the public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
