Surigao del Norte — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga has successfully completed the On-Demand Validation and Registration for the “Walang Gutom – 2027: Food Stamp Program” in Surigao del Norte. Held from December 10 to 13, 2024, the initiative aimed to validate and register 1,500 additional beneficiaries from low-income households who are not part of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) but meet the qualifications for the food stamp program.

The activity, conducted in partnership with local government units (LGUs) across selected municipalities in the province, focused on the most vulnerable sectors, including Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Senior Citizens, and Solo Parents. Beneficiaries underwent a thorough screening and registration process to ensure they could avail of the program’s benefits, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to addressing hunger and promoting food security among marginalized populations.

The “Walang Gutom – 2027” Food Stamp Program is a flagship initiative that targets food-poor households nationwide, aiming to create a hunger-free Philippines by 2027. The recent efforts in Surigao del Norte represent another significant step toward achieving this goal, particularly by addressing the unique needs of the province’s most vulnerable residents.

DSWD Caraga Director [Insert Name] emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “This program ensures that our most vulnerable communities have access to adequate nutrition and improved quality of life. The successful registration in Surigao del Norte is a testament to our collective effort with LGUs to alleviate hunger and enhance food security.”

The local government units played a crucial role in the activity’s success by providing logistical support and mobilizing community members to participate in the validation and registration process. The collaboration underscores the shared commitment between the national and local governments to combat hunger and poverty.

The newly registered beneficiaries will soon receive food assistance through the program, which aims to bridge the gap in food access and nutritional needs for food-poor households. By prioritizing the most vulnerable, the “Walang Gutom – 2027” initiative reinforces the government’s dedication to building a hunger-free nation.

For more information on the program and future registration activities, individuals are encouraged to contact DSWD Field Office Caraga or their respective LGUs.
