Seventeen Graduates Complete Balay Silangan Program, Celebrate Journey to a Drug-Free Life

Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur — Seventeen individuals marked a significant milestone in their lives as they graduated from the Balay Silangan Reformation Program, a comprehensive initiative aimed at fostering drug-free communities.

The culmination ceremony was held at the Labangan Balay Silangan Reformation Center, attended by local officials, representatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and community stakeholders. The event celebrated the reformists’ perseverance and dedication to change.

The reformation program offered an integrated approach to rehabilitation, including livelihood skills training, moral recovery sessions, and counseling. These components were designed to prepare the participants for reintegration into society as productive and responsible citizens.

Director Ralph Rommel D. Torres, Assistant Regional Director of PDEA Region IX, lauded the graduates for their determination and resilience. “Your commitment to change is commendable. You are a testament to the success of this program, which relies on the collaborative efforts of local government units and community partners,” he said.

The Balay Silangan initiative, which translates to “House of Hope,” is part of the government’s holistic strategy to address the drug problem in the Philippines. It provides a second chance for individuals to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities.

As the graduates move forward, the program continues to stand as a beacon of hope, underscoring the importance of community support in sustaining a drug-free society.
