October 26, 2024 – Bubong, Lanao del Sur
In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement agencies in Lanao del Sur successfully captured the province’s sixth most-wanted individual, known as alias “Pikoy,” in a joint operation conducted early on October 26 in Barangay Dimapatoy, Bubong. The suspect, also the top most-wanted person in his municipality, faces charges related to the murder of his aunt, Noraisa Mansuk Manua, who was tragically killed on October 23, 2024. The warrant for his arrest was issued under Criminal Case No. 9492-2023 by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 8 in Marawi City, with no bail recommended.
Provincial Director PCOL Robert S. Daculan commended the collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement units, including the Bubong Municipal Police Station (MPS), Poonabayabao MPS, Provincial Intelligence Division Management Unit (PIDMU), and the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO). The operation was also supported by Camp Sakba Sumiyangka, Assiddique Satellite, the 7th Brigade Inner Defense Base Command, and MILF representatives, demonstrating a strong partnership across agencies.
The arrest occurred around 1:00 a.m., after an intense five-hour exchange of gunfire triggered when the suspect became aware of the approaching officers. The difficult terrain and the suspect’s attempts to evade capture complicated the operation. Ultimately, the suspect was apprehended, though he sustained a gunshot wound in the process.
Authorities confiscated an array of firearms and ammunition from the suspect, including an M16A1 rifle with serial number RP2526, three long metal magazines, two short metal magazines, 16 live rounds, 15 empty shells, and a dark green magazine pouch. All confiscated items were documented and secured at the police station in the presence of two elected officials from Barangay Dimapatoy for transparency and security.
Following his capture, the suspect was taken to Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) for treatment. Authorities are also preparing additional charges against him for violation of Republic Act 10591, covering illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
PCOL Daculan praised the dedication and bravery of all officers involved, noting the importance of inter-agency coordination in achieving successful outcomes in high-risk operations like these.
