Mati City, Davao Oriental, October 1, 2024 – Authorities seized ₱149,600 worth of suspected shabu in an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Macambol, Mati City. The successful raid, conducted in Purok 2, Sitio Magum, led to the arrest of a suspect identified as alias “Jay-ar,” marking another achievement in the ongoing crackdown on illegal drugs in Davao Oriental.
The operation, carried out by the City Drug Enforcement Unit of Mati City Police Station (Mati CPS) in coordination with the Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office (DOPPO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), resulted in the confiscation of multiple pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu. In addition, authorities recovered an improvised glass tooter and a brown coin purse used for the illegal activity.
Suspect in Custody
The arrested suspect is currently under the custody of Mati CPS, and appropriate charges are expected to be filed as law enforcement officials continue to investigate the case. The apprehension of “Jay-ar” is a significant step in targeting illegal drug trade operators in Mati City and the broader Davao Region.

Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) Regional Director, PBGEN Leon Victor Z. Rosete, commended the operating units involved, praising their commitment to fighting the illegal drug trade in Davao Oriental. “This operation reflects the relentless efforts of our police units in Mati City and our continued coordination with PDEA in bringing drug offenders to justice,” PBGEN Rosete said.
He added that the series of operations across the region shows the authorities’ determination to rid communities of illegal drugs and to arrest individuals involved in drug activities.
