Nabunturan, Davao de Oro – A high-value drug personality was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Purok 1, Barangay Magsaysay on the evening of October 4, 2024. The coordinated operation, led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office XI in collaboration with Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte Provincial Police offices, resulted in the capture of Angelo Salazar Atienda, a 45-year-old craftsman and resident of the area.
Atienda was apprehended for selling methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as “shabu,” to a PDEA agent who posed as a buyer. The suspect handed over one heat-sealed sachet of the illegal substance, weighing approximately two grams and valued at ₱22,000.
Further inspection during the operation led to the discovery of an additional large sachet containing around 11 grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱74,800, bringing the total value of seized drugs to ₱96,800. Authorities also confiscated the buy-bust marked money used in the transaction.
Atienda now faces charges for violating Sections 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) under Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The case is being processed for immediate filing.
This successful operation underscores the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies to crack down on illegal drug activities in the region.
