Former Cotabato City Mayor Atty. Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi has officially filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the upcoming elections this afternoon at the City Comelec Office in BGC, through the authority of Atty. Jarissa Guiani. While no official announcement has been made regarding her running mate or complete slate, Sayadi will be running under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) banner.
Atty. Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi has a long history of public service and political leadership in Cotabato City. She first entered the local political scene as a city administrator before becoming the first woman to serve as mayor. Known for her tough stance on crime and efforts to maintain peace and order in the city, Sayadi played a crucial role in leading Cotabato through times of political and security challenges. Her tenure saw significant infrastructure improvements and development programs aimed at boosting the city’s economy and social services.
Sayadi’s leadership also gained national attention when she strongly opposed the inclusion of Cotabato City in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) during the 2019 plebiscite. Despite the city’s eventual inclusion in BARMM, she continued to advocate for Cotabato’s autonomy and the welfare of its residents.
As she seeks to regain her seat, Sayadi’s political experience and firm stance on key issues are expected to be major points in her campaign. More details about her candidacy, including her running mate and team, are anticipated to be announced soon.
