Marawi City — In a decisive operation against illegal drugs, authorities in Marawi City successfully apprehended a suspected drug dealer, alias “Ninio,” during a joint law enforcement buy-bust operation conducted early this morning. The operation took place in Barangay Cadayunan 2 at around 8:00 AM, led by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and the Provincial Special Operations Group (PSOG) of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO).
PCOL Robert S. Daculan, LDSPPO Police Director, commended the operating units, which included personnel from PDEU/PSOG, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), 1402nd and 1403rd Regional Mobile Force Companies (RMFC), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14-A, the Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit (PECU), and Marawi City Police Station (CPS). Their coordinated efforts led to the swift arrest of the suspect, contributing to the ongoing campaign to eradicate illegal drugs in the region.
The suspect, a local resident, was found in possession of two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, weighing approximately 22.04 grams with an estimated street value of PHP 149,532.00. Additional items recovered during the operation included a black weighing scale, drug paraphernalia, buy-bust money, and a hand grenade.
The arrested suspect, along with the confiscated illegal drugs and paraphernalia, was taken into custody at the Marawi City Police Station for further investigation and legal processing. The hand grenade has been turned over to the Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit for proper handling and disposition.
This successful operation is part of the ongoing crackdown on illegal drugs and criminal activity in Lanao del Sur. PCOL Daculan reiterated the commitment of the LDSPPO and its allied forces to maintaining peace and order in the province, ensuring that those involved in illegal activities will be brought to justice.
