Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat – A cellphone technician, who allegedly doubled as a drug pusher, was arrested in a buy-bust operation on October 1, 2024, at 4:58 PM in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.
The operation was carried out by a joint team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Sultan Kudarat Provincial Office, Tacurong City Police Station, and the Sultan Kudarat Police Provincial Office Drug Enforcement Unit. The target, identified as Jxerces Agustin y Matta, a 34-year-old resident of Barangay Buenaflor, Tacurong City, had been on authorities’ radar since April 2024 as a high-value drug personality.
During the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated three sachets of suspected shabu (Methamphetamine Hydrochloride) with an estimated street value of Php 4,750.00, along with the marked buy-bust money used in the sting.
PDEA Regional Office XII Director Aileen T. Lovitos confirmed that Matta is facing charges for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) under Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The arrest of Matta is a significant development in the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs in the region, highlighting the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies to apprehend individuals involved in drug trafficking and related crimes.
