A well-known broadcaster in Davao City was arrested on the morning of Friday, September 27, 2024, based on a warrant of arrest issued by the local court. The 55-year-old media personality was charged with violating the Gender-Based Online Sexual Harassment provision under Section 12 of Republic Act No. 11313, also known as the “Safe Spaces Act.”
The warrant was served at the broadcaster’s station in Ulas, Davao City, where he hosts his program. His arrest was ordered by Presiding Judge Sheila O. Resabal-Vinluan of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Branch 6, Davao City, dated August 22, 2024.
The broadcaster has been granted temporary freedom upon posting a bail of P24,000. According to the police report, this is not the first legal case filed against him. He is also facing a separate charge of Online Cyberlibel, which was previously lodged.
