ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR — Students and teachers at Tukuran Elementary School were shocked and alarmed when a helicopter made an unexpected emergency landing behind their school on Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, the helicopter was returning from the inauguration of the Panguil Bay Bridge in Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte. On board was an official heading back to the 1st Infantry Battalion in Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, when the aircraft encountered strong winds and heavy rain, resulting in zero visibility.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all passengers aboard the helicopter were in good condition following the incident. Authorities confirmed that the emergency landing was precautionary due to the adverse weather conditions.
Local officials have praised the pilot’s decision to make the emergency landing to ensure the safety of those on board, while the students and staff at the school were quickly calmed after the incident. The helicopter and its passengers have since been safely secured.
