Brig. Gen. Leonardo I. Peรฑa, Commander of the 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division and Joint Task Force Orion witnesses the reconciliation of the long-standing feuding families at the Capitol Province of Sulu on August 22, 2024.
The amicable settlement between the families of Brgy. Lahing-lahing, Omar, Sulu was chaired by Hon. Abdusakur M. Tan and was facilitated by 101st Infantry “Sajahitra” Battalion led by Lt. Col. Michael Demafelix.
Hon. Tan congratulates the feuding families for resorting into a peaceful settlement. He then encourages other feuding families to reach out to one another to settle their disputes amicably.
Moreso, Brig. Gen. Peรฑa expressed his gratitude to the joint efforts of the LGU, PNP, military forces and the feuding families, “Ang inyong mapayapang pagkakasunduan ng hidwaan ay hindi lamang para sa amin o para sa inyo lamang, kung hindi para na rin sa ating mga kabataan at inyong mga anak. Sana ay maiparamdam natin sa kanila ang tunay na kahulugan at epekto ng kapayapaan at kaayusan na nararanasan natin ngayon,” Brig. Peรฑa said.
“Asahan ninyo na ang inyong Hukbong Sandatahan ay kaisa ninyo sa pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan at kaayusan para sa progresibong kinabukasan dito sa probinsiya. Amin pong hinihingi ang inyong lubos na suporta sa layuning ito,” Brig. Gen. Peรฑa added.
As a testament to their reconciliation, involved parties and witnesses shook hands and embraced one another. The fueding clans agreed to reconcile and will no longer engage in any violent actions against each other, treating one another as true brothers. They also vowed to forget their misunderstanding, forgive each other and allow them to move forward and build a better future together.
The settlement was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Local Government Unit of Omar; Omar Municipal Police Station; Hon. Abdulbaki J. Ajibon, Mayor of Omar; Brgy. Council of Omar; and the men and women of the Alakdan Division.
