Manticao, Misamis Oriental – Authorities in Manticao have confiscated various equipment used in illegal mining operations after responding to a tip from a concerned citizen.
According to police reports, officers from the Manticao Municipal Police Station conducted an operation in response to reports of ongoing illegal mineral processing activities in Purok 2, Barangay Mahayahay.
Upon verification, the police discovered evidence of active mineral processing, prompting them to seize several pieces of equipment believed to be abandoned by the perpetrators. Confiscated items include:
- 14 rod mill drums
- 3 assembled shaftings
- 12 metal rods
- 1 gray single-phase induction motor
- 2 blue single-phase copper motors
- 1 submersible pump
Authorities confirmed that no individuals were found at the site during the operation. The investigation is currently ongoing and being handled by the assigned case investigator to determine those responsible for the illegal activity.
The police continue to urge the public to report similar illegal activities in their communities to help protect the environment and uphold the law.
