A joint law enforcement operation conducted in Barangay Gadongan, Marawi City, resulted in the successful arrest of two suspected drug peddlers late Friday night.
Police Colonel Robert S. Daculan, Provincial Director of the Lanao Del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO), commended the efforts of the operating units involved in the buy-bust operation. The joint team comprised personnel from the Marawi City Police Station (MCPS), City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) LDSPPO, 1403rd Regional Mobile Force Company (RMFC), and the Provincial Special Operations Group (PSOG) / Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU). The operation took place at approximately 11:00 PM on February 9, 2025.
During the operation, authorities confiscated seventeen (17) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, with an estimated weight of 5.20 grams and a standard drug price (SDP) of Php 35,360. Additionally, law enforcement officers recovered buy-bust money and a pink Hello Kitty mini pouch from the possession of the suspects.
The arrested individuals, both residents of Barangay Gadongan, were immediately informed of their constitutional rights in a language they understood. They, along with the confiscated pieces of evidence, were brought to Marawi City Police Station for proper documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.
PCOL Daculan lauded the seamless coordination among the law enforcement units, emphasizing the continued commitment of the LDSPPO and its partner agencies in curbing illegal drug activities in Lanao Del Sur. Authorities reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining peace and security in the region through sustained anti-drug operations.
The suspects will face charges in violation of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Investigations are ongoing to determine possible links to a broader drug network.
The police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local authorities as part of the collective effort to combat illegal drugs in the province.
