Parang, Maguindanao del Norte — The Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR), led by Regional Director PBGEN Romeo J. Macapaz, officially launched its security measures for the 2025 National and Local Elections and the inaugural Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Election. The ceremonial kick-off for the COMELEC checkpoints took place on January 12, 2025, at Sitio Bliss, Barangay Nituan, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.
As part of its mission to maintain peace and order, PRO BAR has mobilized police personnel across the region to enforce stringent security measures throughout the election period. These measures include the establishment of Fixed, Random, and PNP/AFP-coordinated checkpoints, all of which will be monitored and recorded in the Election Monitoring System (EMS).
PBGEN Macapaz underscored the importance of the upcoming elections, highlighting the historic nature of the first BARMM parliamentary elections. “Our operations will remain proactive, especially in areas identified as election hotspots,” he stated, assuring the public of the impartiality and dedication of PRO BAR personnel in safeguarding the region during this critical time.
The launch event was attended by Atty. Ray F. Sumalipao, COMELEC Regional Election Director, representatives from Local Government Units, and various sectoral groups. The occasion showcased the synchronized deployment of personnel across the Bangsamoro region, with a specific focus on areas historically prone to election-related security concerns.
Checkpoints will operate 24/7 in key strategic locations, with operations coordinated closely with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and COMELEC to ensure comprehensive coverage and rapid response to potential issues.
With the commencement of these security operations, PRO BAR reaffirms its commitment to upholding democracy by ensuring the elections are conducted fairly and peacefully, reflecting the true will of the people in the Bangsamoro region.
