Cotabato City, Philippines – A shooting incident in Cotabato City claimed the life of a man and left others injured on Tuesday. The attack occurred along Sinsuat Avenue, Rosary Heights 9, when an unidentified gunman fired at a Toyota Hilux carrying multiple passengers.
The victim, identified as Akmad Kanapia Utto, a resident of Sultan sa Barongis, Maguindanao del Sur, suffered fatal gunshot wounds to his neck and body. The assailant approached the vehicle from the right side and opened fire using a pistol, according to initial police reports.
Utto was pronounced dead at the scene, while his injured companions were rushed to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities are investigating the incident to establish the motive and identify the suspect, who fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Police have urged anyone with information about the case to come forward.
The incident has heightened public concern over security in the area, with residents calling for increased police visibility to prevent similar acts of violence.
