ZAMBOANGA CITY — An active member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) assigned in the city was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Barangay Curuan after authorities served a warrant of arrest in connection with two counts of rape.
The operation was carried out by the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) Mindanao Field Unit 9, in coordination with the Dapitan City Police Station and personnel of Police Station 2 (Curuan), under the leadership of PCapt. Adzhar Omar.
Authorities identified the arrested police officer as an active PNP member assigned to Police Station 2 in Curuan. He is reportedly a native of Purok Patag, Barangay Santo Niño, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.
Police records reportedly list the officer as a Top 1 Most Wanted Person at the municipal level, with two rape cases filed against him. The arrest was made pursuant to a court-issued warrant in which no recommended bail was indicated.
The operation underscores the continuing enforcement of arrest warrants against police personnel facing criminal complaints, regardless of their active status in the organization.
Following the service of the warrant, the police officer was taken into custody and is expected to undergo the appropriate legal and judicial proceedings before the court handling the cases.
The rape allegations remain subject to judicial proceedings, and the arrested officer is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a competent court.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the alleged incidents or the identities of the complainants, in keeping with the need to protect the privacy and welfare of individuals involved in sexual-offense cases.
