ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat — Police arrested a 28-year-old Army reservist during the implementation of search warrants for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and the law regulating firearms and ammunition in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, on September 10, 2026.
The suspect, identified by authorities only as alias “Mike,” a resident of Sitio Kalipa, Barangay New Pangasinan, Isulan, was arrested at around 4:30 p.m. during a joint operation conducted by personnel of the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit/Provincial Intelligence Unit (SKPDEU/PIU) and intelligence operatives of the Isulan Municipal Police Station.
Police said the operation was carried out through search warrants issued in connection with alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Suspected shabu, shotgun seized
Authorities reported recovering two sachets containing suspected shabu, with a combined gross weight of approximately 10 grams. Police placed the seized substance at a National Standard Drug Price of ₱68,000.
The operation also resulted in the seizure of a 12-gauge shotgun bearing a defaced serial number, which authorities said was accompanied by five live 12-gauge shotgun ammunition and three live 9mm ammunition.
The seized suspected illegal drugs were brought to the Sultan Kudarat Police Forensic Unit (SKPFU) for laboratory examination. The results of the examination will determine the nature and composition of the substance seized during the operation.
Meanwhile, the arrested suspect remains under the custody of the Isulan Municipal Police Station pending the filing of appropriate charges.
Police said cases for alleged violations of RA 9165 and RA 10591 are being prepared for filing before the appropriate authorities.
Police stress lawful enforcement
Police Regional Office 12 Regional Director PBGen Alan B. Manibog underscored the importance of sustained operations against illegal drugs and unregistered or illegally possessed firearms while emphasizing that police actions must remain within the bounds of law.
“Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating mga operasyon laban sa ilegal na droga at loose firearms. Ang bawat operasyon ay dapat naaayon sa batas, maayos, at may respeto sa karapatan ng bawat isa,” Manibog said.
The arrest adds to ongoing police efforts in Sultan Kudarat to disrupt the possession and distribution of illegal drugs while also addressing the presence of firearms that authorities consider a potential threat to public safety.
Authorities have not indicated in the information released whether the suspect is being investigated for any other criminal activity. As of the latest police report, the allegations remain subject to the filing of charges and the judicial process.
