DAVAO CITY — A mother has vowed to pursue legal and administrative action after her child was allegedly struck on the head with a stone by another student inside Calinan National High School on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, leaving the victim with a head wound and significant pain.

The incident has drawn concern after the victim’s mother publicly expressed anger over what she described as an act of violence against her child. She also said she had obtained a copy of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from a nearby establishment that, according to her, captured the incident.
The mother claimed that the footage clearly showed the individuals involved in the alleged assault.
“I already have the copy of the CCTV from a nearby establishment,” she said in a social media post, while thanking the person who recorded or helped document the incident.
The mother said she would not allow the matter to be settled without accountability and indicated that she intends to bring the case before the barangay, the school administration and the police.
She also warned the students allegedly involved that she would pursue the matter through legal channels.
The victim reportedly sustained a wound to the head after allegedly being hit with a stone by a fellow student. The child was immediately given medical attention following the incident.
The circumstances that led to the confrontation, however, remain unclear.
As of Wednesday, August 19, the specific cause of the altercation had not been officially established. It also remained unclear whether the incident stemmed from a prior dispute, bullying, a misunderstanding or another matter involving the students.
The identities of the students involved have not been publicly disclosed, and allegations against any individual have not been independently established.
The mother’s social media statement also contained strong and emotional language directed at the students and their parents. She stressed that she would pursue the matter despite any attempts at reconciliation and said she wanted the incident formally investigated.
She further called for drug testing as part of the process, although there is currently no official information indicating that illegal drugs were involved in the incident. Such allegations should therefore not be treated as established facts unless confirmed by authorities or supported by official test results.
The case also raises questions about student safety and supervision inside school premises, particularly because the alleged assault reportedly occurred within the school environment.
Under existing child-protection and school safety mechanisms, incidents involving students require careful handling not only to determine accountability but also to protect the welfare and rights of both the victim and the student being accused.
At the same time, the circumstances surrounding the incident must be established through a proper investigation rather than through social media allegations alone.
No official statement yet from school
As of publication, the administration of Calinan National High School has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
The school has also not publicly confirmed the identities of the students involved, the exact circumstances of the alleged assault, the disciplinary measures being considered, or whether the CCTV footage cited by the victim’s mother has already been formally submitted to school authorities.
The police and other concerned authorities have likewise yet to publicly disclose the results of any investigation into the incident.
The mother said she intends to file complaints with the appropriate offices to ensure that the incident is formally documented and investigated.
For now, the case remains under verification, with several important questions still unanswered: What triggered the confrontation? How did a student allegedly obtain the object used to strike the victim? Were there previous incidents between the students? Were teachers or school personnel nearby when the alleged assault occurred? And what immediate measures were taken by the school after the child was injured?
These details will be critical in determining what actually happened and whether school rules, child-protection protocols or applicable laws were violated.
The incident comes amid continuing public concern over violence involving minors in educational institutions, highlighting the importance of effective school security, student supervision, early intervention in conflicts and accessible reporting mechanisms for children and parents.
Until the school and authorities complete their investigation, allegations contained in the mother’s social media post should be treated as claims and not as final findings of fact.
