BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi — Police intervened in a labor-management dispute at the SPX Delivery Hub in Sanga-Sanga, Bongao on Monday afternoon, June 29, after tensions between management and employees disrupted the hub’s operations and forced its temporary closure.

According to a police report, personnel responded at around 4:00 p.m. under the directive of PLTCOL Alexander M. Butuan, Force Commander, following reports of a labor dispute involving the hub’s management and several employees.

Initial investigation revealed that a number of hub personnel had allegedly stopped reporting for work due to an unresolved salary dispute with management. The work stoppage reportedly affected the hub’s daily operations and delivery services.

Management also informed responding officers that several company-issued properties, customer parcels, and cash collections from previously delivered items had not yet been turned over or remitted by the concerned personnel. The unreturned company assets and pending remittances further disrupted the facility’s operations.

As a result of the incident, management temporarily suspended operations at the SPX Tawi-Tawi Delivery Hub until further notice while the issues are being addressed.

To prevent the situation from escalating, responding police officers conducted separate interviews with both management representatives and the concerned personnel before facilitating a peaceful dialogue between the parties.

During the mediation, police urged both sides to remain calm and cooperate in resolving the dispute through legal and appropriate channels. The employees were advised to facilitate the proper turnover and inventory of company-issued properties, customer parcels, and any outstanding cash collections, while management was encouraged to address the labor concerns through the proper authorities.

Authorities emphasized the importance of resolving the dispute peacefully to minimize disruptions to business operations and prevent any adverse impact on customers awaiting parcel deliveries.

The incident was properly documented by the responding police officers for appropriate action and future reference. No arrests or violent incidents were reported during the police intervention.

The SPX Delivery Hub will remain temporarily closed until management and the concerned personnel reach a resolution and normal operations can safely resume.
