ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte — As the nation marked the 128th Philippine Independence Day, the Iligan City Police Station 3 (ICPS 3) intensified its public safety and law enforcement efforts, resulting in strengthened peace and order operations and the successful rescue of an intoxicated minor found helpless along a roadside in Barangay Dalipuga during the early hours of June 13.

Under the direct supervision of Police Major Rorye V. Tabuclin, Station Commander of ICPS 3, police personnel strictly enforced local city ordinances and implemented the city’s Safer Cities Initiatives across their area of responsibility in the days leading up to the Independence Day celebration.
Authorities conducted intensified visibility patrols, monitored critical areas, and addressed late-night loitering to prevent potential disturbances and criminal activities. The operation aimed to ensure that residents could safely commemorate the country’s freedom while maintaining peace and order throughout the city.
“Our priority is to keep the streets safe and secure at all times. By preventing unnecessary loitering and strictly enforcing our ordinances, we protect our communities from potential risks, allowing our citizens to celebrate our 128th Independence Day with peace of mind,” ICPS 3 said in a statement.
The heightened police presence proved crucial when officers responded to an emergency involving a young girl found intoxicated and lying along a roadside in Purok 19, Barangay Dalipuga.
According to police reports, ICPS 3 received an urgent call at approximately 2:34 a.m. on June 13 regarding a minor who was allegedly drunk and helpless on the side of the road. Demonstrating rapid response capabilities, Police Responder Dornick Mike 1840 arrived at the scene just two minutes later.
Working closely with the Dalipuga Medical Team and rescue personnel, authorities immediately assessed the condition of the girl and provided the necessary assistance. The minor was subsequently escorted safely back to her residence and formally turned over to her guardian.
Police officials credited the swift intervention of responders for preventing the situation from escalating into a more serious incident.
“The prompt action of our responders prevented what could have been a much worse tragedy and ensured that the child was able to return home safely,” authorities said.
The incident has also raised renewed concerns over underage drinking and the vulnerability of minors during late-night hours, prompting police to call for stronger parental supervision and community vigilance.
Authorities emphasized that safeguarding children is a shared responsibility among parents, guardians, local businesses, and the wider community. They urged parents to maintain open communication with their children, closely monitor their activities, and educate them about the dangers associated with alcohol consumption and substance abuse.
Police also reminded business establishments to strictly comply with laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors.
As ICPS 3 continues to strengthen its law enforcement operations, officials called on residents to cooperate with authorities, observe local ordinances, and actively participate in efforts to maintain a safe and peaceful community.
The twin developments underscore the continuing commitment of the Philippine National Police in Iligan City to uphold public safety, protect vulnerable sectors, and ensure that the freedoms celebrated during Independence Day are matched by security, discipline, and community responsibility on the ground.
