SULU, Philippines — The ongoing implementation of the Rido-Free, Gun-Free, and Peace-Centered Community (RFGFPCC) Campaign of the 1102nd Infantry “Ganarul” Brigade has resulted in another successful firearm hand-over in the Municipality of Panamao, further strengthening peace and security efforts in the Second District of Sulu.

Lt. Col. Ronald A. Borras, Commanding Officer of the 21st Infantry “Invincible” Battalion, said troops from Charlie Company under the leadership of 2nd Lt. Jason C. Palconit facilitated the voluntary hand-over of a low-powered firearm in Barangay Parang Duyan, Panamao, Sulu on May 31, 2026.
According to Lt. Col. Borras, the hand-over was made possible through sustained community engagement activities and close coordination among the military, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Panamao in support of the RFGFPCC Campaign.
“The successful hand-over of this firearm reflects the growing trust and cooperation between the community and government stakeholders. It demonstrates the collective commitment of our people to uphold Panamao as a Rido-Free, Gun-Free, and Peace-Centered Community,” Borras said.
Authorities identified the surrendered firearm as a caliber .45 pistol.
Military officials emphasized that the campaign continues to gain support from local communities as residents increasingly cooperate with authorities in efforts to reduce the presence of loose firearms and prevent armed violence in conflict-prone areas.
Data from the 1102nd Infantry Brigade showed that since January 1, 2026, the RFGFPCC Campaign has facilitated the recovery and voluntary hand-over of a total of 171 high-powered and low-powered firearms across the Second District of Sulu.
Officials said the campaign significantly contributes to the reduction of armed conflict, clan feuds or “rido,” and other security threats while helping strengthen community safety and stability in the province.
Brig. Gen. Alaric Avelino Delos Santos, Commander of the 1102nd Infantry “Ganarul” Brigade, lauded the collaborative efforts of the military, police, local government units, and community leaders in advancing the objectives of the campaign.
“The continued hand-over of loose firearms is a manifestation of the people’s support for peace and the rule of law. Every firearm recovered represents a potential act of violence prevented and another step toward a safer and more peaceful Sulu. Through the RFGFPCC Campaign, we will continue to work closely with our stakeholders to build resilient and peace-centered communities across Sulu,” Delos Santos said.
The 1102nd Infantry Brigade reiterated its commitment to supporting LGU-led, security sector-supported, and community-based programs under the Localized Social Cohesion (LSC) framework aimed at sustaining peace, strengthening the rule of law, and preserving security and development gains throughout Sulu province.
