A 23-year-old man was found dead inside the comfort room of their residence in Purok Mabuhay, Salawagan, Quezon, Bukidnon on Wednesday morning, May 13, 2026, authorities said.

The victim, identified only by the alias “JB,” was a resident of the area.
According to initial police investigation, the incident was discovered shortly after 10:00 a.m. when the victim’s mother went to his room to wake him up for breakfast. However, she was shocked to find her son already lifeless inside the comfort room.
When responding police officers arrived at the scene, the victim had already been transferred to a bed inside the house.
The victim’s mother disclosed to authorities that her son had long been suffering from depression and had a history of mental health illness. She also revealed that on April 18, 2018, he was brought to the Happy Home Foundation in Maramag, Bukidnon for mental health treatment and medication.
Police said no signs of foul play were observed during the ocular inspection conducted on the victim’s body and at the scene of the incident.
The remains of the victim were later brought to Goodlife Funeral Home in the municipality of Quezon.
Authorities have yet to release further details pending documentation and coordination with the family.
