CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities have launched an ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old man in the early hours of the morning in Sitio Pinikitan, Barangay Camaman-an.

The victim was identified as Roel Omliro Pojas, also known by the alias “Kang-a,” a resident of Agora, Lapasan. He was declared dead at the scene after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

According to a report from Police Station 2 Cogon, residents in the area heard at least three gunshots shortly before dawn. Witnesses also reported seeing two unidentified suspects fleeing the scene in an unknown direction immediately after the shooting.

Responding officers recovered three empty cartridge cases from the crime scene, believed to have been fired from a caliber .45 pistol, indicating a targeted attack.

Initial police investigation points to a possible connection to illegal drugs. Authorities revealed that the victim was allegedly involved in the local drug trade and was reportedly known as a drug runner, which may have played a role in the motive behind the killing.

As of this writing, investigators are still working to identify the suspects and determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Police have not ruled out other possible motives.

The victim’s body has been transferred to a local funeral parlor, where it remains as arrangements are being made by the family.
