GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A 16-year-old student was injured after being assaulted by two youths in Barangay Fatima on Tuesday night, prompting barangay officials to immediately initiate an investigation and heighten security measures in the area.

The victim, identified by the alias James, a Grade 11 student, told authorities he was on his way home on a motorcycle after buying school supplies when he was suddenly attacked by two male loiterers near an internet café in 39.2 FVR Village. According to the victim, the assault was unprovoked and he did not know his attackers.
James sustained visible injuries and was promptly brought by his parents to the Fatima Police Station to report the incident. While responding officers were unable to apprehend the suspects, they were identified through witness accounts and statements from nearby residents.
Medical records confirmed that the minor suffered a soft tissue contusion on his right eye as a result of the attack.
The victim’s mother, identified as Josefa, appealed to barangay authorities to strengthen roving patrols and surveillance, saying this was not the first time residents had fallen victim to violence in the community.
Barangay Captain Renante Curit condemned the incident and assured the public that similar acts would not be tolerated. He said the parents of the suspects have been summoned to explain the incident and to take responsibility for their children’s actions.
Authorities reiterated their call for residents to immediately report similar incidents, stressing that community cooperation is vital to preventing the escalation of crimes and ensuring the safety of minors, especially students, within residential areas.
